Contract AI Architect (Solutions Architect) - HMRC Engagement

  • Remote-first (flex occasional London if needed)
  • Clearance - SC eligible
  • Inside IR35 - £700-£720 per day
  • 6 months with potential extension

We are seeking an experienced AI Architect (Solutions Architect) to join a high-profile engagement with HMRC, supporting the design and delivery of modern, scalable AI solutions within a secure government environment.


You will play a key role in shaping and delivering AI-driven solutions, working closely with technical and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust, production-ready architectures. The focus is on agentic AI, RAG-based systems, and scalable AI engineering ecosystems within a regulated environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end AI architectures aligned to business and technical requirements
  • Build and integrate solutions using modern AI patterns (eg RAG, GraphRAG, agents, chatbots)
  • Work with engineering teams to translate architecture into scalable, production-ready systems
  • Engage with stakeholders to demonstrate AI solutions and communicate business impact
  • Leverage AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, and related tooling
  • Contribute to the development of agent-based frameworks and knowledge-driven systems
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned to public sector standards


Key Experience Required

  • Strong background as a Solutions Architect/AI Architect (6+ years in architecture roles)
  • Minimum 2+ years hands-on experience in AI/Generative AI solutions
  • Proven experience delivering RAG, GraphRAG, agent frameworks, knowledge graphs, or chatbot solutions
  • Familiarity with AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Foundry, or similar AI platforms
  • Experience working in secure or regulated environments (government preferred)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Eligible for SC clearance
