Job Description

Senior Construction Planning Manager

London

An opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK’s most respected independent construction and property consultancies as part of its expanding London team.

With a heritage spanning more than a century, this employee-owned business has built an outstanding reputation for delivering some of the UK’s most prestigious and technically complex developments across the commercial, mixed-use, residential, infrastructure and public sectors. The business is widely recognised for its collaborative culture, entrepreneurial environment and ability to provide genuine long-term career progression for ambitious individuals.

This role has been created as part of the consultancy’s continued growth within the London development market and offers a rare blend of hands-on project delivery alongside a clearly defined pathway into leadership.

The Opportunity

This is not a purely managerial position. Approximately 60% of the role will remain heavily project focused, leading planning and preconstruction strategy on a portfolio of landmark high-rise commercial and mixed-use developments across London for a range of major developer, investor and institutional clients.

The remaining 40% of the role will focus on developing towards a future team leadership position. The successful individual will work closely with senior leadership on client development, business generation and work-winning activities, making this an excellent opportunity for someone with both technical credibility and commercial ambition.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead whole life cycle planning, programming and preconstruction activities across complex London developments from bid stage through to delivery

• Develop, manage and interrogate detailed construction programmes using Primavera P6 and associated planning software

• Drive programme strategy, sequencing and risk mitigation across high-value projects

• Support major bids and tenders, contributing to win strategies and client presentations

• Act as a key interface with developers, consultants, contractors and senior stakeholders

• Provide strategic planning advice throughout preconstruction and delivery phases

• Mentor and support junior team members while developing towards broader team leadership responsibilities

• Contribute to business development initiatives, client engagement and market growth activities

What We’re Looking For

• Extensive experience within construction planning, preconstruction or programme management gained within a leading contractor or consultancy environment

• Strong exposure to large-scale commercial and mixed-use developments, ideally including high-rise schemes in London

• Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 and construction sequencing methodologies

• Excellent client-facing and presentation skills with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders

• Commercially aware, ambitious and motivated to progress into a leadership position

• Strong understanding of construction delivery, procurement and contract administration processes

• Degree qualified within Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline

Why Join?

• Opportunity to work on some of London’s most high-profile developments

• Clear progression pathway into leadership within a highly respected consultancy

• Entrepreneurial and collaborative culture with approachable senior leadership

• Strong emphasis on employee development and long-term career growth

• Competitive salary, bonus and comprehensive benefits package
