Planning and Highways Solicitor
Hybrid | North West | Local Authority
Salary: £44,000 - £50,000
Working pattern: Hybrid with flexible office attendance
Essential: Valid Drivers licence & use of a vehicle
A rare and distinctive opportunity has emerged for a Planning and Highways Solicitor with a minimum of 1+ years PQE to join a widely respected local authority in the North West.
This role sits within the Legal Environment team supporting a wide range of infrastructure, regeneration and development projects. You will work closely with senior lawyers and key stakeholders across the organisation, contributing to interesting complex legal work and strategic decision making.
The position offers strong exposure to planning and highways matters and a genuine, clear, pathway to senior roles.
The Appointment:
You will manage your own caseload and provide legal advice across planning and highways matters, including:
- Drafting and advising on section 106, 278 and 38 agreements
- Advising on planning enforcement, public rights of way and related matters
- Preparing reports and advising at committee meetings
- Supporting court applications and public inquiries
- Working with senior lawyers and internal stakeholders across services
Target Profile:
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX
- Experienced in managing a legal caseload
- Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- A clear communicator with strong analytical skills
Differentiators:
- Experience in local government or advising public sector clients
