Role: Chief Software Architect
Location: Berkshire
Job Type: Full time, Perm, Onsite
A leading cyber technology organisation is seeking a Chief Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across multiple programmes developing secure communications, cryptographic and cyber security solutions.
This is a senior technical leadership role, responsible for shaping software architecture, driving engineering best practice, and influencing software strategy across a complex portfolio of projects. Working closely with software leads, systems engineers and project teams, you will play a key role in delivering secure, high-assurance solutions for mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across multiple software development programmes
- Define and promote software engineering best practices, standards and processes
- Lead software architecture, design reviews and technical decision-making
- Drive software quality, reusability, security and maintainability
- Mentor and support software engineers and technical leads
- Champion modern development approaches including DevSecOps, CI/CD and automated testing
- Support bids, proposals and technical planning activities
Skills & Experience
- Strong background in C++, C or Rust development
- Experience with embedded systems, RTOS, Windows or Linux environments
- Proven software architecture and systems design experience
- Knowledge of secure or high-assurance software development
- Experience within defence, cyber security, aerospace or another highly regulated industry
- Ability to influence and lead technical teams across multiple projects
