Our client is a high-growth High Voltage (HV) contractor at the forefront of the UK’s energy transition.
Following a period of significant scaling and high-value contract awards, the firm is seeking a strategic Senior Estimator to lead its pre-construction commercial function.
This role is designed for a seasoned professional who can balance technical precision with the commercial foresight required to win and deliver complex infrastructure projects.
This is a high-impact role within an agile, ambitious firm.
The Senior Estimator will have a direct influence on company growth and the opportunity to build a dedicated estimating department.

The Role
- The Senior Estimator will take full ownership of the estimating process, ensuring the commercial viability of the company’s largest and most complex tenders.
- Lead Tendering: Overseeing the production of multi-million-pound estimates for HV projects, including substations and grid connections up to 132kV.
- Commercial Strategy: Developing winning bid strategies by analysing market trends, competitor activity, and internal resource capabilities.
- Team Leadership: Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior estimators and bid coordinators to ensure departmental consistency.
- Supply Chain Management: Negotiating framework agreements with key suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive advantages.
The Person
- A recognised expert in the UK power sector with a reputation for accuracy and commercial integrity.
- Extensive Experience: A minimum of 7–10 years in a senior estimating role specifically within the UK power distribution, transmission, or renewables markets.
- DNO/National Grid Expertise: In-depth knowledge of DNO (Distribution Network Operator) standards, contestable works, and ICP frameworks.
- Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to manage complex bids from initial EOI through to final contract award and handover to the project team.
