Job Description

Fully Remote (UK) | Education Projects | Unique Opportunity via Grõ Careers

At Grõ Careers, we spend a large part of our time speaking with architects who feel caught between two frustrations:

  • wanting exposure to better projects and stronger studios
  • but no longer wanting the rigidity of traditional office culture

The reality is, genuinely flexible architectural roles within respected design-led environments are still surprisingly rare.

Most “hybrid” roles quickly become 3-5 days in the office.

This opportunity is different.

We are currently supporting a globally recognised architectural studio looking to appoint both…

  • Experienced / Senior Architect (£45,000 - £55,000)
  • Experienced Part II / Qualified Architect (£35,000 - £42,500)

… to support the delivery of significant UK education projects.

The business operates internationally across major sectors including education, transport, commercial and complex mixed-use environments and has developed a strong reputation for delivering technically sophisticated, design-led work.

Importantly, they have also built a genuinely successful remote-first working culture.

Whilst the role is technically aligned to their London studio, the team currently operates fully remotely.

Employees may occasionally be asked to attend the office when required, meaning candidates do need to be within a commutable distance of London, however there are currently no signs of a return to office-based working.

For many architects, this creates a genuinely rare balance… serious projects, strong studio pedigree and meaningful flexibility.

The Projects…

The successful candidates will initially support the delivery of UK education schemes, including a major school project.

The wider education portfolio includes highly collaborative, technically ambitious learning environments designed around sustainability, flexibility and long-term community impact.

A good reference point for the type of work delivered by the studio is large-scale contemporary education and research environments that include award-winning buildings.

Projects often combine advanced learning, technical and research spaces within a highly sustainable and collaborative architectural environment.

This is not repetitive volume housing or production-led delivery work.

The projects are thoughtful, technically considered and stakeholder-heavy environments requiring architects who enjoy coordination, problem solving and meaningful project involvement.

What The Role Will Feel Like…

This is the kind of environment where individuals are trusted.

The studio is looking for architects who are proactive, collaborative and capable of taking ownership within a remote working structure.

Depending on level, responsibilities are likely to include…

  • Leading and coordinating project packages
  • Working across multiple RIBA stages
  • Producing and managing Revit-based information
  • Coordinating consultants and wider stakeholders
  • Supporting technical delivery and design development
  • Contributing to project communication and team coordination

The studio ideally values broad RIBA Stage exposure (0 to 7), however they are open-minded toward architects whose experience is weighted either toward early design or technical delivery stages, provided they are motivated to broaden their experience.

What They Are Looking For…

For Experienced / Senior Architects…

  • Strong UK project experience
  • Proven coordination and project leadership ability
  • Experience across multiple RIBA stages
  • Strong Revit capability
  • Collaborative and proactive mindset
  • Education sector experience is essential

For experienced Part II / Qualified Architects…

  • Strong project involvement and growing ownership
  • Confident Revit user
  • Technical awareness and coordination ability
  • Desire to develop across all project stages
  • Team-oriented and organised approach

Important Considerations…

Due to the remote nature of the role, candidates will need:

  • A suitable home working setup
  • Strong internet connection
  • The ability to work effectively remotely
  • To be within a commutable distance of London

Why We Think This Is Worth Exploring

We work on a lot of architectural opportunities across the market.

Very few combine…

  • genuine remote flexibility
  • strong project quality
  • international studio pedigree
  • genuinely interesting work
  • long-term progression potential
  • broad RIBA stage exposure

…in the way this opportunity currently does.

For architects who want to continue developing their career without returning to a heavily office-centric working model, this is a genuinely interesting position to explore.
